The Immersive Experience of V-U2 Concert Film at Sphere Las Vegas

On September 5th, U2 fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a revolutionary concert film experience at Sphere Las Vegas. V-U2, directed by Morleigh Steinberg and The Edge, captures the essence of the Irish band’s U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency from September 2023 to March. This film is groundbreaking as it is the first to be shot entirely with Big Sky, Sphere Entertainment’s ultrahigh-resolution camera system.

The goal of V-U2 was to provide moviegoers with a concert experience that closely resembled attending a live U2:UV show, and it seems like the filmmakers have succeeded. The Edge expressed his satisfaction with the final product, stating, “I’ve never seen a U2 show. I’m so relieved I caught a great one.” Steinberg emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, involving the band, artists, producers, and technology teams. The result is a cinematic masterpiece that captures the energy and beauty of U2’s live performance.

U2 has been captivating audiences for almost five decades, selling out stadiums worldwide, winning 22 Grammys, and selling over 53 million albums in the U.S. alone. Since their formation in Dublin in 1976, the band has maintained its core members, including The Edge, Bono, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullin Jr. Their Willie Williams-directed Sphere residency consisted of 40 shows and drew over 700,000 spectators.

While it is yet to be announced how long V-U2 will be screening at Sphere Las Vegas, one thing is for sure – this concert film promises to be an unforgettable experience for all U2 fans. For those unable to attend the event in person, the film will transport viewers into the heart of the live show, ensuring that the magic of U2’s legendary performances can be enjoyed by all, with or without you.
