Lionsgate has officially announced that the action crime thriller ‘1992’ will hit theaters over Labor Day weekend on August 30. This film marks one of Ray Liotta’s final movie roles, co-starring alongside Tyrese Gibson. Additionally, Snoop Dogg has joined the project as an Executive Producer through his Death Row Pictures banner. The film will be released alongside other wide entries such as Sony/Blumhouse’s horror movie ‘They Listen’ and Showbiz Direct Distribution’s ‘Reagan,’ starring Dennis Quaid.
The story of ‘1992’ follows Mercer, played by Tyrese Gibson, as he struggles to rebuild his life and mend his relationship with his son amidst the turmoil of the 1992 L.A. uprising following the Rodney King verdict. On the other side of town, another father and son duo, portrayed by Ray Liotta and Scott Eastwood, embark on a dangerous heist to steal catalytic converters containing valuable platinum from the factory where Mercer works. As tensions escalate and chaos ensues in Los Angeles, the lives of these characters intersect, leading to explosive confrontations.
